Since early 2005, several Floyd County residents have been meeting informally to pursue the goal of establishing recreational trails in Floyd County. These meetings have included presentations from experts in the field to learn about recreational trail examples and successes in other areas of the Commonwealth. This group of citizens (TIF) has applied for and received a grant in cooperation with the Community Design Assistance Center (CDAC) at Virginia Tech to query the public and create a comprehensive conceptual plan for trails in Floyd County. TIF is presently seeking individuals to become involved in the development and construction of trails in Floyd County. After updating local and state officials, the first project TIF will focus on is the planning and construction of the Scotts Mill Road Trail.
